The Importance of Dog & Puppy Shots

Dog Vaccinations

Let Santa Sofia Equine provide your pet with the necessary shots they need to live a full and healthy life. Occasionally, there are outbreaks of distemper, parvo and other diseases in the state that could potentially put your dog or puppy at risk. Some of these diseases may pose a threat to your dog’s health if his or her immune system is not protected. Keeping dogs up to date on their annual vaccinations is an effective way to preserve their health.

The Importance of Dog Shots (vaccination)

Core vaccinations are essential to your pet’s health. During the first year of your puppy’s life, it’s critical that they receive the necessary vaccinations to protect them against potentially fatal diseases. In the early months, they need to be vaccinated against distemper, hepatitis, parainfluenza, parvo and rabies. Each of these diseases is highly contagious. As the puppy grows, you must commit to routine booster shots to continue preventing these diseases.

There are also non-core vaccinations that may be recommended. These additional dog shots may prevent Lyme disease, Bordetella and Coronavirus. A licensed veterinarian can assess your dog’s health and determine if they may need these extra shots. Staying up to date with both core and non-core vaccinations will help keep your dog healthy throughout its life.
